NBA Finals: Game 1 tonight!

LAKERS vs CELTICS........... again.

while 80-90% of the world is excited for this... i am one of the few that isn't excited. well, im excited to see the finals because im an NBA fan. but otherwise... i can't stand this crap that the media does to rivalries like the lakers/celtics. they strangled us to death with that stuff 2 years ago.. and because it hadn't happened in a while, everybody jumped on it. they haven't been as smothering this year, advertisement-wise, but every blog or website HAS to mention the other years of that rivalry.. blah blah blah.. i dont care.

anyway.. some things i think you should look out for tonight:

- pau gasol against the celtics frontline. unfortunately, i dont think andrew bynum will be much of a factor this series because of the recent news that he's still having trouble with his knee. lamar odom will help but i'm sure that KG, for the most part, has him covered.

- celtics bench over the lakers bench. i used to think that lakers had a really deep bench... but other than lamar odom, nobody has really stepped up on the bench. vujacic, although ive always thought he was a joke, ive always thought he was at least serviceable. doesn't even get much play nowadays.. farmar, hasn't really showed anything yet. which is disappointing considering he wants the starting pg job next year. and the only thing shannon brown is good at is dunking on fastbreaks. u won't get too many fastbreaks against the celtics. meanwhile, celtics bench has been on the up and up lately. tony allen, nate robinson (i hate this guy), glen davis are all coming together nicely.

- kobe and artest over rayray and pierce. kobe and artest are the better defensive duo... but rayray and pierce are the better offensive duo.

wut u guys think?

Sixers and Timberwolves

alright so most of you who actually follow to the sixers are probably aware of the rumor with the timberwolves.

"One trade rumor that briefly circulated here involved the Sixers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves want Turner and would give the Sixers their No. 4 and No. 16 picks in exchange for the second pick."

well lets take that a step further now.. because thats the old rumor... the NEW rumor is that the timberwolves want evan turner (assuming that the wizards pick Wall) so badly that they're willing to give away Al Jefferson for the #2 pick... now u might say... "evan turner could possibly be a franchise player.. sooo why take jefferson?" well... theres the catch... word is that the sixers player that they are trying to get rid of the most is elton brand. and the timberwolves are willing to take on his atrocious overpaid contract in hopes of baiting the sixers to give them their #2 pick.

that means:
sixers - get Al Jefferson
t'wolves - get #2 pick (evan turner), elton brand

sixers starting lineup could be:
pg - jrue holiday
sg - andre iguodala
sf - thaddeus young
pf - al jefferson
c - samuel dalembert

wolves:
pg - jonny flynn
sg - #2 pick (evan turner)
sf - corey brewer
pf - kevin love
c - #4 pick

yes theyd still have their #4 pick... and im just assuming that they would draft the most capable center there... maybe demarcus cousins. he's slipped recently in the draftboard... but here he would make a lot of sense.. maybe they could trade the #4 pick for a lower pick and get a role player at the same time.

wolves outcome:
the timberwolves would be so loaded with young talent and their rookie contracts that having elton brand come off the bench wouldn't be a bad idea at all. soo yes this sixers/wolves trade makes all the sense in the world for them. and theres that slim chance that ricky rubio will come to town... but thats highly unlikely.

sixers outcome:
sixers get in al jefferson what they wanted in elton brand. a power forward who knows how to score in the post and can BE the go to scorer when needed. he's also a very good rebounder and is more athletic than elton brand. which fits the sixers play style better. the risk here is that in jefferson's 6 years, he has only played 1 full season. and the rest of his years have been injury plagued.

overall:
looks very good for the wolves if accepted.. but just so-so for the sixers. i would rather see them get evan turner with the second pick. and like i said... for the teams that don't win this offseason in the free agency craziness, we could probably move an unwanted contract outta here.

Latest Sixers Rumor

Okay the latest sixers rumor is that the sixers organization is currently dangling the #2 pick (widely acclaimed as evan turner) and elton brand to any teams that are offered.

i read about this on Dimemag.com. they mention it very briefly with little details.

Sixers.. you need to make up your friggin mind. are you in rebuilding mode? or are you trying to win it right now. it should be very clear in black and white which side you are on.

there are teams that either think they can make it with the squad they have now... or teams that are contending to be contenders (the rebuilders)... we are far from contenders. so you need to decide right now.

i dont know why they hired Coach Doug Collins. i think there are more qualified coaches out there... i mainly think they gave him the job because of the fact that he was a drafted sixer many many many many many years ago.. and they believe that loyalty means something in this league. but cmon, this is a damn business. if theres anything i believe about Doug Collins that the sixers say they like in him... its that he's a good teacher. now alright.. maybe he'll make a difference in the young guys on our team. but is he a good x's and o's coach? can he make the right adjustment and the right substitution at the right time.. i've failed to see that as of yet.

so my main thinking is that they hired him to be a teacher. that says to me that this team is in rebuilding mode.. the BEST way.. and i really do mean this.. the BEST way is to rebuild through the draft. to get the 2nd pick in a lottery that we were considered to have a 5% chance to be in the top 3 is truly a blessing.

do NOT mess this up Sixers. the top 2 are almost locks to be superstars in the NBA. Andre Iguodala is NOT a franchise player... so why are you paying him franchise money? you need to keep this 2nd pick.

i kno your itching to get rid of elton brand... but you fucked up big time when you picked elton brand over josh smith in free agency. hmmmm.. 29 yr old elton brand (who was definitely on the decline of his prime years).. USED to average 20 and 10 in a miserable Clippers team.. or an up and coming 22-23 year old in josh smith.. who has the upside to get you YEARS of 20 and 10... who ALSO fit the play style of the THEN sixers (trap defense, fastbreaking, uptempo).. hmmmmmm.. great choice! (sarcasm)

your obviously in rebuilding mode whether you like it or not. any of the top 4-5 picks in the draft could be a very valuable asset in a rebuilding effort.

best thing you could do and probably the most realistic thing you could do... dangle andre iguodala out there with sam dalembert. and if someone is foolish enough to take elton brand right now... go with that as your plan A. but andre iguodala is your most valuable trading asset right now. sam dalembert, although he has proven to be very unreliable.. is still a defenesive presence on any team... find the right coach/team and he'd be valuable. i believe he has 2 years left on his contract. dangle that.

any of the teams that dont win in the 2010 free agency will probably be pressured to make any sort of move or be called losers by their respective team owners. honestly, 2010 free agency has been the year to think about for the last two years... every single team had a gameplan for it whether it was a big gameplan or small. theres not enough superstars around for all the teams that are in place for a big splash... soo if you don't end up with a superstar this year... i'm considering you a failure.

on that note... failures! come to the sixers and trade for ELTON BRAND! SAM DALEMBERT! ANDRE IGUODALA! oh yea.. and i dont care if anyone takes willie green or not... just get rid of him.

Mission Statement

Let's face it.... the fan's point of view doesn't always get their voice heard.

and often times, the fan's voice doesn't get the respect that they deserve.

but in all honesty, aren't the voices of journalists just based on their opinions too? are our opinions not as important as theirs?

the point of this blog is just to express the opinions of a true fan like it matters... because it does.

I'm a die-hard Sixers fan. and im a die-hard NBA fan. i think you can guess what i'll be blogging about.
